Forest law experts, representatives of organizations and key players of the forest sector at the invitation of the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) discussed the issues of illegal logging, illegal timber trafficking and low law enforcement in Ukraine. The conclusion is that the lack of systemic reforms in the forestry sector leads to aggravation of problems in forestry.

Representatives, key players and organizations of the forest and agricultural sectors discussed the status and condition of self-sown forests in Ukraine within the framework of land reform and outlined further possible steps for their legal regulation. Such forests are currently not specified in the legislation, but their area is about 500 thousand hectares.
